Hospital Advocates work in conjunction with doctors, social workers, case managers, and nurses to enroll eligible, uninsured hospital patients. They collaborate with free clinics, federally qualified health centers, health care providers, civic associations, churches, community organizations, etc. Their role is to teach and train those offering assistance to these patients.

The goal of this initiative is to decrease visits to emergency rooms and lower hospital readmissions directly related to patients not having the medications they need.
